About Other Places
Other Places is a Los Angeles–based 501(c)(3) arts organization founded in 2017 to challenge commercial and institutional models by supporting art exhibition practices outside the mainstream. Since 2018, Other Places has organized Other Places art fair (OPaf) – a public program which reimagines what an art fair can be and whom it can serve – in Los Angeles, Santa Rosa, San Diego, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Kyoto. OPaf cultivates a global network of independent art project spaces and artist-run platforms worldwide. In 2025, we launched STAR150 PRESS, an imprint that publishes artist books and printed materials that reflect the same values as our exhibitions and events: experimental, collaborative, and rooted in dialogue over market logic.
