Be Still Life began as an experimental project created by Kristin Cammermeyer and Anna Breininger in response to the limitations offered through the typical avenues through which we connect with other artists as well as engage with our own studio practices. In a climate in which we are inundated with information and over scheduled it has become imperative to create a space to decompress from our anxieties and reassess our defaults. This process of slowing down and connecting through drawing and socializing is not only medicinal but also political as it reimagines the product-driven capitalist framework art is often situated within.

Beyond the studio sessions, venues have included High Desert Test Sites @ Sky Village Swap Meet (Joshua Treenial), Spring Break Art Fair Los Angeles, Elevator Mondays Artist Talk (with drawing session), OPaf, ArtHouse LA Annual Open House 2019, Euclid Gallery in conjunction with Erica Mahinay's exhibition "Sun Seekers”, a casual session at The Old Zoo in Griffith Park, and The Banff Art Centre's Earthed Residency at the top of Sacred Buffalo Guardian Mountain.

In addition to hosting the Be Still Life sessions, Cammermeyer and Breininger have begun collaborating on a body of wall works combining assemblage with airbrushed imagery. These pieces link Cammermeyer’s interest in the ecology of objects with Breininger’s study of pattern and ornament. This work will be available for the duration of the fair.
